Smart4health is coordinated by Portugal under the European Research and Innovation Programme Horizon 2020, and its main objective is to promote personalized health solutions through the universal exchange of Electronic Health Records. It receives funding of 22 million euros, of which more than 4 million got to Portuguese entities. The development of this project will allow citizens and healthcare providers to collaborate in an integrated and digital way with doctors and researchers. Smart4Health will enable European citizens to manage their own health in the context of an active life in a digital society, based on two main pillars that derive from the needs of citizens in an increasingly digital society: participating in the management of their own health and helping society by sharing their data.
