Within the conference session ‘European Electronic Health Records – Digitalisation in the healthcare sector’ part of the 11th European Innovation Summit
The Smart4Health Coordination was invited to speak at the European Parliament, within the scope of the session ‘European Electronic Health Records – Digitalisation in the healthcare sector’ part of the 11th European Innovation Summit, held on the 5th of February. This event, with the theme “Execution of Europe’s horizon: from policy to impact”, has as main goal, the partnerships and european missions, in the scope of digital transformation, greening and innovation.
Ricardo Jardim Gonçalves (UNINOVA), Smart4Health Coordinator, highlighted in his intervention, the Innovation and the Development in Digital Transformation, focusing on developments carried on under Smart4Health and on the impact that EU investment in R&D projects will have on lasting prosperity and preserve Europe’s global benefits, within Horizon Europe’s new framework program.
This was an opportunity to exchange views with the parliament members, the European Commission, representatives of civil society and industry, about policies and measures, adopted to co-design a European level Electronic Health Record. The new Horizon Europe framework program aims at keeping the EU at the command of global research and innovation and supports European Partnerships to create global challenges and industrial modernization, through Research and Innovation.
The speeches by the members of the European Parliament Maria Manuel Leitão Marques and Maria da Graça Carvalho, as well as representatives of the European Commission and stakeholders, captured the interest of the room.
Doctors, nurses from the European Federation of Nurses Associations (EFN) and hospitals, praised the relevance of research in Portugal, in its contribution to the country and to Europe, having UNINOVA – Institute for the Development of New Technologies as its reference leader, through its technology and systems research center (CTS).
